This Site is intended for the exclusive use of UFCW Local 401 members and their families. Access is also permitted to those contemplating membership in UFCW Local 401.
The use and viewing of this site by members of Management is strictly prohibited. This site is intended in part to assist UFCW Local 401 with the representation of it's members as well as to assist potential members in the formation of a Trade Union. These are protected rights pursuant to the Alberta Labour Relations Code and unauthorized access by Management may well constitute an offense under that Act. The relevant articles of the Labour Relations Code read as follows:
Prohibited practices by employer, etc.
148 (1) No employer or employers' organization and no person acting on behalf of an employer or employers' organization shall
(a) participate in or interfere with
(i) the formation or administration of a trade union, or
(ii) the representation of employees by a trade union,
The Alberta Labour Relations Code sets out penalties for violation of the above provisions as follows:
161 Subject to sections 159 and 160, a person, employee, employer, employers' organization or trade union that contravenes or fails to comply with any provision of this Act or of any decision, order, directive, declaration or ruling made by the Board under this Act is guilty of an offence and liable
(a) in the case of a corporation, employers' organization
or trade union, to a fine not exceeding $10 000, or
(b)in the case of an individual, to a fine not exceeding $5000.
This site is also utilized by Union Legal Counsel to disseminate Legal advice to UFCW Local 401 members and potential members. Accordingly, all information contained herein is strictly confidential and subject to Solicitor and Client privilege.
If you are not authorized to utilize this site you must leave immediately. It is the policy of UFCW Local 401 to utilize all Legal means to protect the privacy and integrity of this site. All violations will result in complaints being filed with the Alberta Labour Relations Board pursuant to the above legislation.
PRIVACY POLICY
UFCW Local 401 will only collect information from our visitors on a voluntary basis. We don't require this information to obtain access to any of our sites. Personal information may include name, address, e-mail address, age, etc., and may be collected for contest entry forms, requests for information from UFCW Local 401, to join our updates list, etc. We may also occasionally ask, on a voluntary basis, for personal information for our internal use, such as promotion and research. Personal information received from any visitor will only be used for internal UFCW Local 401 purposes and will not be sold or provided to third parties. Since the information you submit to us may not be encrypted, we cannot guarantee the absolute privacy of that information. Only those who ask to be added to our update lists or who ask for information from us will receive e-mail from us. If you want to remove your e-mail address from our files, please let us know.
